What Cameron Martinez’s reaffirmed commitment to Ohio State football means: Buckeye Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cameron Martinez’s reinforced commitment to Ohio State football does more than complete Ryan Day’s 2020 recruiting class. The Michigan defensive back’s declaration of his intent to sign with the Buckeyes relieves some of the sting of Clark Phillips’ flip to Utah during the early signing period. More importantly than the cosmetic benefit of holding on to a commitment, it adds another talented, young piece to a secondary that is getting older fast and will be turning over completely by 2021. By all accounts, the 5-11, 185-pound Martinez plays bigger than his size, whether that’s as a defensive back, receiver or his high school position of quarterback.
