Ohio State football’s search for a big-time running back: Meet 5-star prospect Will Shipley


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State football program needs a high-level running back in its 2021 recruiting class. The last time the Buckeyes signed a running back rated as a top 100 recruit, that player ended up becoming the first player in OSU history to run for 1,000 yards in his first three seasons. As a junior, that player would break Eddie George’s 24-year record for rushing yards in a season and become the first Buckeye to reach 2,000 yards. That player was J.K. Dobbins, and shortly after a 29-23 loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoffs, he expectedly declared for the NFL Draft.
