COLUMBUS, Ohio — New Ohio State football defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs wasted no time returning to the recruiting trail. HIs first stop was at the home of the Buckeyes’ last remaining 2020 priority. Coombs was in Muskegon, Michigan, on Wednesday to see Cameron Martinez. The four-star defensive back has been committed to Ohio State since July 4. After Jeff Hafley announced he had taken then Boston College coaching job, however, Martinez postponed his signing until the regular period, which begins Feb. 5. OSU coach Ryan Day and assistant secondary coach Matt Barnes also visited Martinez last weekend. The 5-11, 185-pound Martinez was named Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year in December. Ohio State has already signed 24 players for the 2020 class, and 14 of them are on campus as early enrollees.
