Ohio State football will open 2021 season at Minnesota on a Thursday night


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s 2021 season will open on a Thursday night. The Buckeyes’ game at Minnesota has been moved up two days to Sept. 2. The change was noticed Tuesday by various outlets and has been confirmed by the athletic departments of both schools. That season-opening Thursday kickoff will be the second in four years for Ohio State, which opened the 2017 season on the road at Indiana. Minnesota regularly opens its seasons on a Thursday night. Non-Saturday games have been fairly common in Ohio State’s recent history. It played at Northwestern on a Friday night this past season. Ohio State has not played at Minnesota, a Big Ten West opponent, since 2014.
