COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football expects some roster attrition prior to the start of the 2020 season to reach its scholarship limit of 85. Another example came out Wednesday when Yahoo’s Pete Thamel reported that defensive end Alex Williams has entered the transfer portal. Williams recorded eight tackles over five games in his just-completed redshirt freshman season. The 6-6, 270-pound Pickerington North grad was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. Ohio State projects to have a deep group at defensive end in the next two seasons, including juniors Tyreke Smith and Tyler Friday, sophomore Zach Harrison and top Class of 2021 recruit Jack Sawyer. If Williams transfers out, his departure would bring Ohio State down to 87 known players on scholarship.
