How Ohio State basketball’s E.J. Liddell is adjusting to a much different role in his freshman season


COLUMBUS, Ohio — With 13:25 left in Ohio State basketball’s loss to Indiana on Saturday, E.J. Liddell stepped to the free-throw line with the Buckeyes’ trailing 40-37. The freshman forward — who had yet to score his first points in the game — missed both attempts. An offensive rebound by Kaleb Wesson and a foul on Trayce Jackson-Davis would give Liddell another chance at the line, where he made the second of two shots. One minute later, he’d make his only field goal on a dunk off a Hoosier turnover to tie the game for the final time. Indiana would go on to win, 66-54, giving Ohio State its fourth straight loss.
