COLUMBUS, Ohio — The decisions made by Shaun Wade, Baron Browning, Wade Davis and others to return for the 2020 season gives Ohio State a strong chance to return to the College Football Playoff. It also gave Buckeyes coach Ryan Day and his staff what can be a good problem — a roster too full of talent. All college teams must be at 85 scholarship players for the start of the season each fall, and that number hangs in the background of decisions made year-round. The departures of J.K. Dobbins, Jeff Okudah and Chase Young — as well as a small handful of in-season transfers — lowered the number of 2020 commitments. But as of Thursday morning, Ohio State is believed to have scholarships committed to 88 players for next season.
