COLUMBUS, Ohio — Over the course of the 2019 season, Ohio State football lost three safeties — two to transfer and one to the end of his college eligibility. It is also easy to forget that Josh Proctor, a player whose breakout potential has long been anticipated, will already be a junior in the fall of 2020. The Buckeyes had already prioritized that position in recruiting, however. Tuesday’s commitment from Cincinnati La Salle’s Jaylen Johnson provides additional depth for the Class of 2021. While listed as a safety, Johnson’s versatility could allow him to have a greater impact on the OSU roster. Johnson is the first defensive back among the eight known commitments in the Buckeyes’ 2021 class.
