What Sam Hart’s commitment means for Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s 2021 recruiting class — so far the top-ranked class in the nation — has leaned defense at this early stage. Aurora, Colo., tight end Sam Hart continued that theme when he committed to the Buckeyes on Monday. Of the seven known commitments for 2021, five are on offense, and four involve players who may either throw or catch passes. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Hart, a three-star prospect, chose OSU over about two dozen offers — including six within the Big Ten. Tight ends played an important role in the offense’s success in 2019. Collectively, they totaled 26 receptions for 302 yards and seven touchdowns. Additionally, the usage of single- and dual-tight-end sets helped the Buckeyes’ well-regarded offensive line pave the way for J.K. Dobbins and the nation’s sixth-ranked offense in yards per carry.
