Ohio State football at the 2019 Fiesta Bowl: Christmas Day practice report


SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — One day after loudly reminding his team it can prove preseason doubters wrong in the Fiesta Bowl against Clemson, Ohio State football coach Ryan Day brought a more festive energy to a Christmas Day practice. Before the Buckeyes held their Wednesday practice at Notre Dame High School, Day himself strapped on a blocking pad and gave each player a thump as he ran onto the field through a chute. When the offensive line came onto the field together, they ditched the chute and instead charged their head coach, lifting him into their shoulders. Reporters were allowed to watch about 20 minutes of mostly stretching and calisthenics as the Buckeyes prepare to play in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
