There was no question about the four teams that would be in this year’s College Football Playoff field. The major question for the committee was determining which team would be the top seed. Both LSU and Ohio State went unbeaten and had impressive resumes after winning the SEC and Big Ten, respectively. But Tigers were able to jump the previous-No. 1 Buckeyes after cruising past Georgia, while the Buckeyes topped Wisconsin after trailing by 14 at halftime. Filling out the field is defending champions Clemson and Oklahoma. The Tigers are making their fifth consecutive trip to the semifinals. This will be the third year in a row for the Sooners. This is the first berth for the LSU, which will face Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl. Ohio State, back after a two-year absence, takes on Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl.
