Ohio State-bound Cameron Martinez of Muskegon adds another prestigious honor


MUSKEGON, MI – Cameron Martinez calls it “surreal” that his high school football career is over. However, the Muskegon High School standout received some news today that helps ease the pain a little bit. The Big Reds senior quarterback added another prestigious honor to his resume: the 2019 STATE CHAMPS! Mr. Football award. Martinez is the second Big Reds QB in three years to collect the statewide honor, joining La’Darius Jefferson (2017). The other finalists for the 2019 Mr. Football award included East Lansing junior receiver Andrel Anthony, West Bloomfield junior running back Donovan Edwards and Walled Lake Western receiver Adbur-Rahmaan Yaseen. Last week, Martinez became the first two-time winner of the Michigan High School Football Player of the Year award, presented by MLive Media Group.
