Ohio State linebacker Justin Hilliard approved for a sixth year of eligibility


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State linebacker Justin Hilliard said Wednesday night that the NCAA approved a sixth year of eligibility for him, meaning he’ll play college football again next season. Hilliard, a five-star recruit in the Class of 2015, battled numerous injuries in his career, which is why the NCAA was open to his request. He redshirted his first season in 2015, then played just one game in 2016. He played 11 games in 2017, eight last year and eight this year. That’s about two-and-a-half seasons of actual action in five years, and that’s why he’ll be back in 2020.
