COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nineteen years ago in January, newly named Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel stepped onto the OSU basketball floor at halftime and reset the Ohio State-Michigan football rivalry. “I am so proud, so excited and so humbled to be your football coach at the Ohio State University,” Tressel told the crowd. “I can assure you that you will be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community and, most especially, in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on the football field.” At that point, Ohio State had won just two of the last 13 games against Michigan.
