COLUMBUS, Ohio — Pete Werner didn’t grow up in the rivalry. Sitting in the stands in Ohio Stadium three years ago as recruit, watching the Buckeyes beat Michigan in double overtime, the Indiana native chose it. “I saw Curtis Samuel run that ball into the end zone and that kind of brought me here,” Werner said Tuesday. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I gotta come here.’” Werner said other potential future Buckeyes felt it that day, too. He would become part of the 2017 Ohio State class that was ranked second in the nation, the class that’s fueling this Ohio State undefeated season, the class that featured 14 out-of-state players like Werner and seven who went to high school in Ohio.
