COLUMBUS, Ohio — During the 2014-15 season, Ohio State lost its starting quarterback Braxton Miller, then lost its back up quarterback in J.T. Barrett. The Buckeyes then looked to third-stringer Cardale Jones during their most important stretch of the season. Jones went on to lead them to three-straight wins in the Big Ten Championship, College Football Playoff Semifinal and the National Championship game. That included wins over Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon. Now the Crimson Tide will try to mimic that formula in 2019 after losing its starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a season-ending hip injury.
