How Shaun Wade stepped up for Ohio State football in Damon Arnette’s absence


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Shaun Wade came into Ohio State football’s game against Rutgers as the only starting defensive back without an interception this season, but it wouldn’t take long for that to change. For the second time, this season, the Buckeyes defense forced a turnover on the opening drive of a road game when Wade picked off Johnny Langan’s first pass of the game. That interception gave the offense prime field position that later turned into the first of two touchdown runs for J.K. Dobbins. “It was great just making a play for the Buckeyes and doing what I do,” Wade said. “I saw the ball that was short, so I just tipped it to myself.” Wade didn’t allow the Scarlet Knights offense to get much going on its second drive either.
