Ohio State football’s Jonah Jackson, formerly a captain at Rutgers, bridges the Big Ten’s talent divide


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Most Ohio State football players did not formally meet Jonah Jackson until he arrived in Columbus this past offseason. The Buckeyes’ defensive linemen knew him well, though, thanks to the prior three years of competition in the Big Tens’ East Division. When Ohio State coaches saw Jackson, the former Rutgers captain, was available as a graduate transfer, they asked their own players for a scouting report. “He was one of the better guys they’ve gone against within the league,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said of his players’ feedback on Jackson. “As an interior guy he was strong and powerful in the run game and did a good job in pass protection.” Rutgers’ struggles in the Big Ten are well-known to this point.
