Ohio State did nothing to lose the top spot on my Associated Press Top 25 ballot. LSU just came and took it. I do not see how anyone but the Tigers can be ranked No. 1 in the nation following Saturday’s 46-41 win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Going into the game, I had the Buckeyes at No. 1 and LSU at No. 2 as a acknowledgment of Ohio State’s overwhelming dominance this fall. Their resumes were pretty even in my mind. LSU had more brand-name wins (Auburn, Florida and Texas) but Ohio State made up for what it lacked on that front by just pulverizing teams. And it also had some quality victories – Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan State (before its complete collapse) and Wisconsin.
