We have the first noteworthy hiccup in Ohio State’s unbeaten football season. Whether it’s anything more than a speed bump remains to be seen, but Buckeyes defensive star Chase Young will sit out Saturday’s game against Maryland over a potential NCAA rules violation. In a release, Ohio State said the “possible NCAA issue” was from 2018. Young leads FBS with 13.5 sacks, has put himself in the Heisman Trophy conversation and certainly is on the short list of contenders to be the No. 1 overall pick in April should he forego his senior season. Whether Young will be able to play anymore as a junior for the Buckeyes remains to be seen. When eligibility issues arise, it’s standard for the school to hold out the athlete until the situation is resolved. After Saturday’s game against Maryland, Ohio State will play at Rutgers.
