Chase Young will not play vs. Maryland 'due to a possible NCAA issue,' Ohio State says

One of the most exciting and dominating players in college football won’t suit up this weekend and his status for the rest of the season is uncertain. Ohio State defensive end and Heisman Trophy candidate Chase Young is sidelined for Saturday’s game against Maryland “due to a possible NCAA issue from 2018 that the Department of Athletics is looking into,” the school said in a release Friday. The statement did not provide any further details.  The length of Young’s absence is uncertain. When eligibility issues arise in college athletics, the usual process is for the school to hold out a player until it resolves the issue with the NCAA. Ohio State faces Rutgers, Penn State and Michigan after playing Maryland this weekend. Young is in the middle of a dominant defensive campaign for the undefeated Buckeyes.
