Ohio State Basketball prepares for its season-opener against new look Cincinnati


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball will open up its season at home against Cincinnati on Wednesday night. The Buckeyes come into the season ranked No. 18 in the initial Associated Press Top 25. This is the first time since the 2014-15 season that they have been ranked in the preseason poll. The Bearcats aren’t ranked but head coach Chris Holtmann still expects this to be another tough outing much like it was last season. Cincinnati is in its first year under new head coach John Brannen who spent the past four seasons at Northern Kentucky. He brings with him four transfers along with Cincinnati’s returners. The Bearcats have been known as more of a defensive team in their nine years under Mick Cronin. Holtmann stated that he expects there to still be some of those elements under Brannen, but that he also believes that they are better jump-shooting team.…
