Can Ohio State football’s offense reach a higher level of production?


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The raw numbers say Ohio State football’s offense belongs on the short list of the best in the country. The Buckeyes rank third in scoring offense (48.3) behind Oklahoma and Alabama, scoring 42 or more points in six of eight games.. They rank sixth in total offense and eighth in yards per play. The lead the country in first downs per game (26.9) and third down conversion rate (57.29) and ranks second nationally in red zone touchdown percentage. Yet the prevailing theme for the Ohio State offense coming off an idle week and heading into Saturday’s game against Maryland was not what the Buckeyes have accomplished, but what heights they can still achieve. “Coach (Ryan) Day was telling me and J.K.
