COLUMBUS, Ohio — Justin Fields lost his helmet and Chris Chugunov gained a snap. Ohio State’s starting quarterback saw his helmet come off against Wisconsin on Saturday and, by NCAA rule, he had to be removed for one play. In came the backup, and for one brief moment required by bylaws, not by injury, the Buckeyes were tested in the area that most affects their national championship chances. Quarterback balance. Keeping Fields healthy, and Chugunov, if needed, ready.
