COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is 8-0 and after a 38-7 win over Wisconsin, it increased the number of observers who believe it might be the best team in the country. Because of that, it’s no surprise that multiple players have been named as semifinalists for national awards this season. Quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young have been named as semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, while Young’s name is also on the list for the Chuck Bednarik Award. Young enters the Buckeyes’ second bye week with 22 tackles, a nation-best 13.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss this season. He is a half-sack from the Ohio State single-season record (held by Vernon Gholston) and is on pace to be the second player in history to reach 20.
