COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is 8-0 and after a 38-7 win over Wisconsin, it may have proved that it’s the best team in the country. Because of that, it’s no surprise that multiple players have been named as semifinalists for national awards this season. Quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young have been named as semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, while Young’s name is also on the list for the Chuck Bednarik Award. Young enters the Buckeyes’ second bye week with 22 total tackles, a nation’s best 13.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss this season. He is half a sack from the Ohio State record for sacks in a single season held by Vernon Gholston and is on pace to be the just the second player in history to reach 20.
