COLUMBUS, Ohio – So much for that game of the season on Saturday at Ohio Stadium. No. 4 Ohio State football’s pending top-10 matchup against No. 6 Wisconsin evaporated Saturday as Illinois kicker James McCourt’s 39-yard field goal split the uprights in Champaign, Illinois, as time expired. The Illini’s 24-23 victory knocked the Badgers from the dwindling ranks of the undefeated and took a lot of the luster off of their visit to Columbus. Long before that field goal, however, Wisconsin looked painfully ordinary against an Illini team that came in with a 2-4 record and a four-game losing streak, including a home loss to Eastern Michigan. Jonathan Taylor averaged a ho-hum 4.7 yards per carry on his 28 attempts, and his late fumble opened the door to Illinois’ stunning comeback.
