What has been surprising about the play of Ohio State football’s offensive line this season?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is third in the country in rushing yards per game at 288.5 yards, and a lot of that has to do with the blocking of the offensive line. The Buckeyes have four new starts up front, and yet through six games, they already further along than the 2018 line was from a run-blocking standpoint. The consistent starters have been Thayer Munford at left tackle Jonah Jackson at left guard, Josh Myers at center and Wyatt Davis at right guard. Branden Bowen has been the main start at right tackle, but Joshua Alabi has started the past two weeks and earned player of the game honors against Nebraska. The pass protection still needs work, but this team has already found success in getting running backs J.K. Dobbins and Master Teague through holes and into the second level of the defense.
