COLUMBUS, Ohio – We are finally inside a one-month gap before the College Football Playoff selection committee releases its first rankings on Nov. 5. Thanks to my colleague Doug Lesmerises, we have some additional criteria by which to examine the case for Ohio State football and everyone else as one of the four national semifinal participants. Last week, attempting to recreate the criteria the committee listed on its website, I placed the Buckeyes as the No. 1 overall seed. Doug brought home a binder full of criteria sheets from the mock selection in which he partook. Those sheets concerned the 2014 season, but they provided some insight into which numbers the committee will care about the most. Record: Only undefeated teams could possibly claim a top-four spot through six weeks.
