Ohio State football’s 6-0 start? The Buckeyes were just warming up


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day broke Ohio State’s football season into sections the minute he took over as the Buckeyes’ head coach. The first six weeks of this season would be a test of survival, especially for first-year quarterback Justin Fields, and before the season started, Day called on the rest of his team to rise up in support of a sophomore transfer who would be learning on the fly. “I think the first six games to me is a chunk right there,” Day said in late August. “You have the bye week. You have two games in the middle, then end with the last four games.
