But the matchup changed, and if these 13 people were in charge of the 2014 College Football Playoff, we wouldn’t have seen the Buckeyes vs. Alabama until the National Championship. On Thursday morning, I was part of a 13-person mock selection committee in the same room in the same resort where the actual CFP selection committee has been meeting since 2014. The playoff people have been conducting national media mock exercises like this since 2015 to help us understand how this really works. This was a condensed, one-day, five-hour experience, but we definitely developed a feel for the process.
