Former Ohio State player Anthony Gonzalez proposes national Fair Pay law: Buckeye Breakfast


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez is preparing to propose a law to allow college athletes the opportunity to make endorsement money. This follows the passing of the Fair Pay law in the state of California that governer Gavin Newsom signed on Monday. That law will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023 and will not require schools to pay student-athletes directly. Gonzales played for the Buckeyes from 2004-06, catching 87 passes for 1,286 yards and 13 touchdowns. He spent five seasons in the NFL, playing 40 games for the Indianapolis Colts from 2007-11. He plans to wait to propose his bill until Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith reports the findings from a working group assembled by the NCAA to evaluate ways in which the association could change its rules on name, image and likeness rights to the NCAA’s board of governors at the end…
