Georgia transfer Justin Fields beat out fellow transfer Gunnar Hoak (a University of Kentucky graduate) for that first play on offense. “Where it goes from there, we will see,” Day said Monday. Fields joined the Buckeyes in the spring and have made progress, according to the first-year head coach, but still isn’t quite where the coach wants him to be to name him the unconditional, bonafide starting quarterback. “Justin kind of separated himself this week,” Day said, explaining the status of the QB competition. Fields backed up UGA’s Jake Fromm last season. In the limited time on the gridiron in games, the dual-threat rushed for 266 yards and passed for 328 yards, completing 26 of 39 passes for a 69.2 completion percentage.…
