Naming Chase Young an Ohio State football captain is giving a title to something he’s done all offseason


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State defensive lineman Chase Young was among the seven players selected as a captain for the 2019 football season. That list includes four defensive players and three offensive players. Most were predictable, while the lone surprise is a former walk-on who’s earned the respect of his teammates. For Young, the honor is something that has been in the making since the day he walked on campus. He just had to wait his turn to act on it.
