Justin Fields named Ohio State starting quarterback for opener

COLUMBUS – Former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields, who transferred to Ohio State earlier this year, has been named the Buckeyes’ starter. © Provided by USA Today Sports Media Group LLC “Justin kind of separated himself this week,” said Ohio State coach Ryan Day said of the competition between Fields and Kentucky transfer Gunner Hoak. Day said all the decision announced Monday means is Fields will take the first snap in the opener on Aug. 31 against Florida Atlantic. “Where it goes from there we will see,” Day said.
