COLUMBUS, Ohio — When Greg Mattison decided to leave Michigan to become Ohio State’s new defensive coordinator, he brought with him a position that’s been a staple in the Wolverines’ defense. The viper position which was once played by Jabrill Peppers will be a new wrinkle for the Buckeyes, who will be looking to have a much-improved year on that side of the ball. It was a major talking point during the spring while players tried to learn what its purpose was. Now with fall camp coming to a close, it’s clear that there are significant differences between what was done in Ann Arbor and what will be done in Columbus.
