COLUMBUS, Ohio — The upcoming 150th season of college football gave CBS a chance to present its All-American teams over that time span. ESPN decided to use it as a way to rank the sport’s 50 best programs. Their goal was to “Honor the accomplishments of teams across 150 seasons and all divisions, while rewarding successful programs at the highest level in the sport’s most competitive era.” The list heavily emphasized teams who have won Associated Press, BCS and College Football Playoff championships. Ohio State came in third on the list with a 69.6 rating behind Alabama (74.9) and Notre Dame (72.9). Over the past 50 years, the Buckeyes have won eight national championships.
