COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett is getting another shot at the NFL after signing with the Seattle Seahawks. His signing comes following a knee injury to quarterback Geno Smith. Barrett’s first stint in the NFL included being signed, waived and resigned by the New Orleans Saints multiple times last season. He alternated between their practice squad and 53-man roster. He was waived for the final time a few days after the start of training camp. He will compete with Smith and Paxton Lynch for the backup job behind Russell Wilson. He has yet to take a snap in an NFL regular-season game. As a Buckeye, Barrett started in 44 games amassing 9,434 passing yards and 104 touchdown passes. He added another 3,263 yards and 43 touchdowns on the ground.
