COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football started preseason practice Friday morning. Reporters could watch the first three periods of individual drills, but we were escorted out as the Buckeyes started 11 vs. 11. Then came a tour of the revamped football headquarters, which we’ll be getting to you. But here are a couple of my thoughts based on how the players broke down during individual drills. • Demario McCall was up second in the running back drills behind starter J.K. Dobbins. McCall sat out spring practice with an injury, but coaches had talked about him as a running back able to work all aspects of the position, not just a third-down wrinkle. This seemed to back that up, as McCall looked ready to go behind Dobbins, with Master Teague and Marcus Crowley working behind him.
