Michigan has drawn plenty of buzz this offseason, with many predicting the Wolverines to dethrone Ohio State in the Big Ten East. Some of that, undoubtedly, has to do with the Buckeyes replacing legendary coach Urban Meyer with Ryan Day heading into his first full season as head coach. But that didn’t stop The Sporting News from picking the Buckeyes to repeat as league champs. First, in picking Ohio State to win the West, The Sporting News’ Bill Bender wrote that the Buckeyes could still rely on elite talent. “We’re still picking Ohio State,” Bender wrote. “That comes with the trust that Day will get the most out of transfer quarterback Justin Fields with new offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. The defense will improve under co-defensive coordinators Greg Mattison and Jay Hafley. Day will still have to prove it against a tough draw against West teams along with the usual pairings…
