Jack Sawyer, Ohio State commit, rated as the No. 1 recruit in 2021 class: Buckeye Breakfast


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State hasn’t landed the country’s top football player since Terelle Pryor in 2008. Now they may have the chance to do so in Jack Sawyer of Pickering North (Ohio) High School. ESPN released its top 300 players for the class of 2021 and the five-star defensive end was rated as the nation’s top rising junior by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. It also moved all four of Ohio State’s 2021 commits into the top 100. Overall the class dropped down to No. 4 in the country behind Miami (Fla.), Texas and Notre Dame. The Ohio native is considered to be the second-high commitment in Ohio State history behind Ted Ginn Jr. That top 10 also includes 2020 commits Julian Fleming of Southern Columbia (Penn.)
