COLUMBUS, Ohio — Matthew Baldwin is leaving Ohio State and the Buckeyes are down to two scholarship quarterbacks, neither of whom began their college careers in Columbus. Here’s the deal on quarterback flux under new coach Ryan Day, what it means for the program’s immediate and future success, whether there are trends to identify here and what Day can learn from this. 1. The Buckeyes are shocked by Baldwin’s decision. A one-time Colorado State commit, the Buckeyes pulled Baldwin out of Texas late in the 2018 recruiting cycle. He committed on Dec. 7, 2017, as Emory Jones was wavering on his OSU pledge. Jones flipped to Florida two weeks later. 2.
