Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian cornerback Fred Davis landed a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes in early September. That offer came from Urban Meyer and Taver Johnson. Davis subsequently visited Ohio State and had continued to have the Buckeyes on his list. However, Davis has announced he has committed to the Clemson Tigers. He posted his decision on his Twitter account on Monday night. Davis had been heavily trending to Clemson on the Crystal Ball so his decision was not a surprise. Davis is from the same high school as current Ohio State defensive backs Shaun Wade and Tyreke Johnson and Ohio State 2019 running back signee Marcus Crowley. Also, another 2020 defensive back at Trinity Christian, Miles Brooks, had an Ohio State scholarship offer too though the Buckeyes were not pushing for Brooks and he committed to Georgia Tech earlier this spring.
