COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State kept a running score during the 11th practice of spring football Friday, one reporters watched eight days before next Saturday’s spring game. The defense, according to a system that awarded points for every play, won by a score of 79-74. That win didn’t matter. But it’s crucial that the Buckeyes find a defense with which they can win in the fall. They might be doing that. Sliding smoothly through coverage assignments, running down ball carriers, pressuring quarterbacks, the Buckeyes looked like a functioning unit made of intriguing parts.
