Five offseason questions for Ohio State's safeties

The 2019 season was not one many defensive backs for Ohio State will look back on fondly. The Buckeyes struggled as a pass defense, allowing 245.2 yards per game through the air, finishing 86th best in the country in pass defense. By comparison, the Scarlet and Gray allowed just 195.9 passing yards in 2017. While the safeties certainly weren’t all to blame, the position group will admit that the players can be better. The position appeared relatively set with two returning starters, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some question marks. Here are five offseason questions for Ohio State’s safeties: 1. What will happen with the Bullet position? The talk around the Buckeye defense this spring is the newly created “Bullet” position.
