COLUMBUS, OHIO – How it Happened Ohio State, showing the desperation that comes with trying to end a four-game losing streak, jumped out to an early lead thanks to some sloppy play from Purdue. The Boilermakers were loose with the basketball throughout the first half, turning the ball over 11 times in opening 20 minutes. The biggest culprits were Carsen Edwards with three giveaways and Nojel Eastern with two. Purdue’s early struggles holding on to the ball gave the Buckeyes a chance to open up a 17-8 lead nine minutes into the game. The rest of the half belonged to the Boilers, however. Ohio State got sloppy with the ball, as well, and eventually turned the ball over 13 times in the first half, leading to 14 Purdue points.
