COLUMBUS, Ohio — A fast start couldn’t prevent Ohio State from stretching its losing streak to five games, as Purdue controlled the final 30 minutes of a 79-67 victory Wednesday night at Value City Arena. It’s the longest losing streak the Buckeyes have suffered in the arena’s 21 years as the program’s home floor. In the four previous games, the Buckeyes struggled from the start and put excessive pressure on its inconsistent offense. Against the Boilermakers the Buckeyes made three of their first seven shots while holding Purdue to 1-of-8 with six turnovers. The lead was 17-8 with just under 11 minutes left in the half Purdue came into the contest with the fourth-best scorer in the country in Carsen Edwards.
