A reason to be excited about Ohio State's linebackers: Buckeyes football analysis

COLUMBUS, Ohio — How would have answered this question at the beginning of spring: Who will start at linebacker for Ohio State against Oregon State? The answer most would have offered back then was not the one Greg Schiano offered on Monday. In the opener, it will be Pete Werner, Baron Browning and Malik Harrison at linebacker. That’s a good sign. Schiano, as coaches tend to be at this time of the season, was incredibly optimistic about the position group and said that for the first time in Urban Meyer’s tenure, they’ll probably rotate at the position. But that it’s Werner, Browning and Harrison starting is significant. Why? While injuries and guys being a little banged up have altered the competition, it seems that — at least at this position — Schiano is adhering to talent more than seniority.
