COLUMBUS, Ohio — Maybe it’s not surprising if you follow the trail of guys Urban Meyer can’t stop talking about. Pete Werner certainly fits that bill. Meyer loves him, and gave him an important role on special teams last year as a true freshman. It seems Werner’s rise is continuing, though, to the point where it looks like he’ll be one of the three starting linebackers when Ohio State opens the season in two weeks against Oregon State. At Saturday’s practice, the first-team linebackers were Werner at Sam linebacker, Tuf Borland in the middle and Malik Harrison at Will linebacker. Borland and Harrison? Not surprising, though Borland is not expected to be ready for the opener as he continues his road back from an Achilles injury in the spring. Werner?
