Ohio State will pay Toledo $1.8 million for the Rockets’ trip to play the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 17, 2022, according to a report by Nick Piotrowicz of the Toledo Blade. It’s not uncommon for the Buckeyes to pay more than $1 million to an opponent for a one-off non-conference home game, which they typically have two of each season. For example, Ohio State paid UNLV $1.3 million for its game at Ohio State last season. The Buckeyes paid $1.45 million to Army for its game at Ohio State last season, according to Land-Grant Holy Land’s Matt Brown. Per Piotrowicz’s report, the Buckeyes will also make 5,000 tickets for the game available to Toledo, as is also standard practice.
